Circular Finnish Sauna Werben
Circular DesignBuild Project
2024 – 2025
The Circular Finnish Sauna is a Design-Build project at SPENI, exploring circular construction through iterative, full-scale prototyping. Beginning with this first prototype at the Sauna festival “Echt Heiß” of the Nordic Embassies Berlin, the structure has been repeatedly dismantled, transported, and reassembled across locations, with each iteration adapting the same set of materials. Through hands-on engagement with construction, students develop resource-conscious design strategies that link material reuse, detailing, and spatial transformation. Integrating traditional craftsmanship with experimental processes, the project frames architecture as a dynamic system of material flows, cultural practices, and continuous adaptation.
