Collaborative Research Project
The project explores how digital–robotic fabrication workflows can expand the material and constructive potential of renewable roundwood timber resources in construction.
Operating at the intersection of architecture, engineering, forestry, and robotic manufacturing, Scalar Robotic Thinnings Fabrication develops iterative processes that link material-specific analysis, computational design, and collaborative robotic setups into a continuous cycle of research and application. Rather than treating the irregularities of small-diameter thinnings as limitations, it understands these characteristics as operative data informing fabrication strategies and structural concepts.
Through interdisciplinary collaboration, the project develops adaptive workflows which embed material behavior into design and production, advancing robotic timber construction and resilient, regionally grounded yet scalable value chains.
